The Castle
Perched upon a hill in the Collio region near Gorizia, a 13th-century castle overlooks vineyards and Italian-style gardens with its iconic silhouette.
Its roots reach even further back to Roman times, when a watchtower and a kiln once stood on these grounds. Within these ancient walls, Giacomo Casanova found sanctuary and inspiration, falling so deeply in love with the estate’s wines that he immortalized them in his Memoirs as being “of excellent quality.”
Beneath the manor, the oldest wine cellars in the Collio region still preserve the true soul of this land: a former military bunker carved into solid rock, where time quietly ages the wines bearing the castle’s name.
